Grass Stains is a site-specific initiative created by the Pioneer Winter Collective. Grass Stains cares about pairing mentoring with creative process in order to perpetuate site work that lives outside the boundaries of a traditional space, commission, or expectation. Beyond a culminating performance, it cares about a fullness of experience that focuses on and invests in re/developing site-driven choreographic and multidisciplinary inquiry. In 2020, MDC Live Arts joins us to explore this process, and uncover the practice and pathways of generating collaborative, site-specific work with over twenty South Florida-based artists. In two editions in 2020 and 2022, over 40 artists worked with artist curator Ana Sánchez-Colberg, in a laboratory setting over the course of one week. In 20222, the MDC Live Arts Lab surrounding MDC Wolfson Campus (Building 1) hosted the event. In 2022 the Curtis Mansion housed the project.
Grass Stains is supported by the State of Florida, Department of State, Division of Cultural Affairs; and the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor, and Board of County Commissioners.
